Overview

Travel into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains with a day trip to the village of Imlil. Known as the primary base camp for trekkers heading up Mount Toubkal, this guided excursion offers clean mountain air, scenic hiking trails, and a direct look into the daily life of traditional Berber farming communities.

The Itinerary

  • 8:30 AM - Departure: Your driver will meet you at your Marrakech hotel or riad after breakfast.
  • The Valley Drive: Travel south toward the mountains, passing through the town of Tahnaout and the Asni valley. The route features winding roads lined with apple, walnut, and cherry trees.
  • Arrival in Imlil: Reach the village of Imlil (elevation 1,740m). Here, you will leave the vehicle and meet your local English-speaking mountain guide.
  • Guided Hike: Embark on a moderate, 2-to-3-hour guided walk through the surrounding valleys. The trail takes you past terraced farms, local waterfalls, and up to the higher village of Aroumd. (Mule rides are available for those who prefer not to walk).
  • Lunch: Sit down for a traditional 3-course Moroccan lunch, typically served on a rooftop terrace or inside a local Berber family home, offering clear views of the Mount Toubkal summit.
  • 5:00 PM - Return: Descend back to the main village of Imlil to meet your driver. Arrive back in Marrakech by the late afternoon, with a direct drop-off at your accommodation.
